Job Description

Insurance sales agent acts as a business development executive for any insurance company he or she work in, and convinces people to purchase insurance policies from the company. They are also responsible for interviewing the various customers, so as to determine who is fit for obtaining the insurance policies. Apart from this, the insurance sales agent also acts as a mediator between the insurance company as well as the customer, and brings in to the notice of the customer, that which insurance policy would be best suited to his or her needs. The insurance sales agent is also required to attend seminar as well as workshops for training and development.

Educational Requirements

Although no special degree or educational qualification is desired to take up the job of an insurance sales agents, there is a tendency and habit with the major employers to go for those who posses at least a basic college degree. A degree in finance and economics can surely prove to be an added advantage in case of acing as an insurance sales agent. Even a high school graduate can prove good for the job, provided he or she possess a suitable quality of selling skills.

Other Requirements

There is a general rule for all the states in the United States that the state law requires all the various insurance sales agent to possess a legitimate license for making any insurance sales in the state. There is yet another important twist to the tale here. The state requires these insurance sales agents to hold separate licenses to sell casualty insurance, property related insurance and education as well as health insurances. Acquiring licenses on the part of aspirants for becoming insurance sales agents requires them to pass entrance examinations as well as complete the various designated pre insurance procedures.

As far as the skill part is concerned, the pre-requisite requirement of having selling skills and a bent of mind is desired out of an insurance sales executive, so as to be able to make perfect sales and be successful in convincing people. Able communication skills are also a must for the job.

Remunerations

As far as the average salary extracted by an insurance sales agent lies in the range of forty to fifty thousand dollars in the United States per year. Apart from this, there are various job related incentives to be cashed in.

The employment outlook for insurance sales agents is pretty bright and it has been estimated that the jobs for insurance sales agents would increase on a rate as fast as the other jobs are increasing by the year 2016.As the number of companies active in the insurance domain increase and more and more people get bent upon in securing their future, the job of an insurance sales agent would prosper day by day.
