Insurance Agent Jobs
An insurance agent is responsible for meeting and exceeding targets in the sales of insurance policies for the agency. Specific duties of an insurance agent include cold calling and prospecting; fixing up appointments with prospects; understanding customer requirements; suggesting a product or service that most suits the buyer's requirements; overcoming hurdles in the selling activity; up-selling and cross-selling; helping other insurance agents; travelling to customer's residence; making travel arrangements for self; negotiating prices; attending training sessions and performing other tasks assigned by the sales manager. An insurance agent typically reports to a sales manager.
An insurance agent should have an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a relevant area. Excellent selling skills and the ability to persuade others is essential. Prior experience working as an insurance agent may be helpful.
