Role Value Proposition:
Specialized Benefit Resources (SBR) is a unit within RIS Life Products comprised of its own Sales, Actuarial (Product Management), Client Management, Financial Management, SA Investment, and Business System areas. AUM for SBR is over $20B, and the sales goal for 2021 for SBR is $475M of new premium. SBR sells Corporate-Owned Life Insurance /Bank Owned Life Insurance (COLI/BOLI) to corporations, and COLI/BOLI is used to fund corporate liabilities such as NQDC, Supplemental Executive Retirement Plans (SERP), medical coverage, group life and other post-employment benefits (OPEB).
The Actuarial (Product Management) team within SBR consists of a highly skilled group of actuaries and non-actuaries working on technical issues relating to COLI/BOLI insurance products.
Contribute technically on issues relating to the COLI/BOLLI products by performing various tasks during the sales process and throughout the life of the contract,
Responsible for pricing, stable value wrap modeling, liquidity modeling/monitoring and stable value crediting rate resets.
Interact with others within the Actuarial team, SBR and MetLife (and it’s not part of the actuarial student rotation program).
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
3 years relevant experience in an actuarial department.
Knowledgeable on universal life (UL) and variable universal life (VUL) contracts, including determination of charges and crediting rates.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and macros), experience with mainframe systems and internal software programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, or Actuarial Science.
Actuarial Exams are preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of insurance products, actuarial concepts and actuarial calculation methodologies.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skill set.
Able to work effectively both independently and as a team player.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly on technical matters, is desired.
Able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and proactively resolve roadblocks to completion.
