The Labor & Employment Attorney represents the company in legal matters involving the workplace, works closely with Human Resources to provide guidance and counsel to all business units regarding employment matters. This role provides counsel and advice to management regarding a broad range of employment matters including, but not limited to, employment agreements, EEOC, ADA, FLMA, ERISA, NLRA, workers’ compensation, wage and hour laws, immigration, employee benefits, employment policies and procedures, performance management, disputes, expatriate matters, terminations and hiring practices.u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Cpu003E u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Ch4u003EResponsibilitiesu003Cu002Fh4u003Eu003Cpu003E• Investigate highly sensitive employee relations issues and regulatory; investigations related to employment matters.• Partner with human resources to advise and assist business units with restructurings, redundancies and layoffs.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and maintain compliance with all relevant laws as it relates to company handbooks, global policies and procedures and affirmative action plans.• Provide employment related support on transactional matters including contract drafting and negotiation, acquisition-related advice, and review of compensation and benefits plans.• Analyze casework trends to produce strategic, proactive recommendations to HR and the business to proactively address and mitigate risk.• Proactively monitor employment laws and provide and advise of developments that may affect the company.• Represents the company in contract negotiations, mediations and settlement meetings.• Preferred applicant will be an individual with experience to assist with all matters both domestically and internationally.• Draft and manage responses and represent the company in EEOC, DOL and workers’ compensation hearings and investigations.• In conjunction with the training and human resources department, develop and teach human resources legal training curriculum.• Assist human resources in reviewing and implementing human resources compliance training programs such as sexual harassment and wage and hour.u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Ch4u003ERequirementsu003Cu002Fh4u003Eu003Cpu003E u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Culu003E u003Cliu003EMinimum 7 years’ of legal assistant experience within the insurance industry preferably focusing on litigation. u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EKnowledge of insurance claim and risk management claims handling and procedures.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EAssociate’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experienceu003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EStrict compliance with required confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EExceptional verbal and written communication and prioritization skills.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EAbility to use judgment, tact, and discretion.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EAbility to quickly assimilate oral and written data, to analyze facts and draw logical conclusions.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EAbility to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EExcellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task. u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EExcellent telephone, writing, and proofreading skills.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EOutstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EMust be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EStrong technology and computer skills including Power Point, word processing and spreadsheet software, e-mail and database software programs; Ability to perform legal research.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EHigh level of proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EKnowledge of legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures, litigation, and legal calendaring highly desired.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EStrong initiative and ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion with regard to reporting functions.u003Cu002Fliu003E u003Cliu003EStrong analytical ability. u003Cu002Fliu003Eu003Cu002Fulu003Eu003Cpu003E u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Cpu003E u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Ch4u003EAbout Usu003Cu002Fh4u003Eu003Cpu003E u003Cu002Fpu003Eu003Cpu003EPeople taking care of people.
