nnJob DescriptionnThe Claims Associate, under direction from the Claims Team Leader or manager, investigates and settles claims promptly, equitably and within established best practices guidelines.r MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:r Major Duties & Responsibilities:rrDay to day handling of substantial caseload of line of business claimsrrn•         Evaluating information on coverage, liability, and damages to resolve claims on reasonable terms and at an appropriate value. rrIdentifying coverage issues.rIdentifying risk transfer opportunities pursuant to contracts, lease agreements, certificates of insurance.rCommunicate with policyholders, experts, counsel and others to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company.rrn•         Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, broker and TPA in the adjustment of fast track auto and GL casualty losses.rrSets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor.rEvaluate claims and make recommendations to management regarding claim resolution plans/strategies.rNegotiating settlements.rRetaining, directing and managing litigation counsel through trial; developing and managing strategy and reviewing legal bills.rAttending arbitrations, mediations, trials.rRespond to internal and external requests for information from management, underwriters, business partners etc.rPrepare timely and accurate reports to management regarding significant claim developments.Desired Qualifications/ Requirements:rrAbility to organize one’s daily diary and execute on it.rAbility to meet demanding caseload and business supportrAbility to multi-task varied and significant mattersr2-3 years of relevant experience with a degree of specialized and technical competence in the handling of General Liability/Auto claims, Products Liability and Premises Liability.rLitigation management skills directly managing defense counsel.rSuperior oral and written communication skills.rrn•         Organization and time management skills.rrn•         Experience in a work environment that requires collaboration across work groups.rrn•         Working knowledge of industry best practices and procedures.rrn•         Ability to work independently. rrn•         Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills; and an ability to deal with customers and business partners in a professional manner.rrn•         Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based upon detailed analysis of issues.rrDemonstrated strong relational skills particularly in adverse or high-pressure situations.rEager to work in a fast paced environment.
